Individual Therapy sessions are all about you. At the start of our confidential talks, we will get to know each other. Later on, we will examine what is troubling you in detail and work on removing and/or working with these issues in your life. I accept appointments for individuals in 60 minute, 90 minute, and 120 minute blocks. I am available during daytime, evening, and some weekend hours.
Combining the knowledge and wisdom of nearly forty years of studies and clinical practice, Gottman Method Couples Therapy helps couples break through barriers to achieve greater understanding, connection and intimacy in their relationships. Through research-based interventions and exercises, it is a structured, goal-oriented, scientifically-based therapy. Intervention strategies are based upon empirical data from Dr. Gottman’s study of more than 3,000 couples. This research shows what actually works to help couples achieve a long-term healthy relationship.
Services are focused on the Mother- before, during, and after birth. I have been trained at the Postpartum Support International group and offer unbiased support to mothers and mothers-to-be. I also offer a unique perinatal service. In addition to counseling biological parents, I also specialize in working with non-biological parents who are becoming and/or are parents.
Family therapy is designed to address specific issues that affect the psychological health of the family, such as major life transitions or mental health conditions. It may be used as the primary mode of treatment or as a complementary approach. I will see up to 4 family members per session. These appointments generally last 90 minutes, but can be less or more when necessary. Family therapy generally lasts for at least 8 sessions, but can continue as long as the family desires and/or needs.
Group Therapy involves one or more therapists who lead a group of roughly five to 15 patients. Groups can act as a support network and a sounding board. Other members of the group often help you come up with specific ideas for improving a difficult situation or life challenge, and hold you accountable along the way. Groups are held during the daytime, evening, and weekends. Each group has a specific topic and, on average, last for 60 minutes each week for 8 weeks.
Parenting Classes provide a way to learn new tactics to apply to children to help them develop. I teach effective ways to redirect your child’s behavior as well as focus on basic ways to build parenting skills. A common theme for parenting classes is to positively reinforce children instead of teaching only through punishment. Parenting classes are held mostly in the evenings and on weekends. I encourage at least 2 caregivers to attend these sessions and classes. Sessions and classes can be catered to your individual needs or can be completed in a more traditional classroom type manner.
